This site has been listed on September 27 1972 by a Royal order and by a order from the Governement of the French-speaking community on October 14 1986. These swamps are part of the Main Heritage of WalloniaSeveral swamps that were farmed by our ancestors for litter and extraction of peat for warming. This lost tradition left some tracks that are rich in flora and fauna (insects, birds, carnivorous plants, orchids, and so on...). The peat bogs that started getting formed at the end of the last glaciation (12,000 years ago) can be thick 2 or 3 meters at some places. The trembling and spongy ground is dangerous.The site is classed among the Main Heritage of Wallonia.It is 8 ha huge
